So I've decided to try my hand at quilting and I am so excited!
But keep wondering, am I biting off more than I can chew?
The last time I really ran a sewing machine was back in elementry school, some 13 odd years ago. Why the sudden urge to start something so ambitious?
Well this past January, during one of our ugliest blizzards of the season my husband and I purchased a holiday trailer. In past years we had borrowed his parents very small motorhome, in which we couldn't even sleep in the same bed. With the arrival of our second child nearing we knew we couldn't last another year in that rig. So we went out and got our own. Something that will fit our family with some room to grow if we need it.
Now that we have our own trailer and have the freedom to go camping WHENEVER we want, I thought it would be nice for the kids to have their own blankets. Something they can take with them everytime we go out. Small enough for them to haul around and curl up by the fire with. I knew I wouldn't be able to find exactly what I was looking for and decided right then that I would make them myself.
So here I am now, built up with all this excitement, fabric in hand, and no sewing machine. :P
I am currently doing some research and hoping to bring home a machine very soon, so that I can get started. Until then I wanted to share my fabric choice, it is absolutely adorable.
My eldest's (Everett's) quilt will be done in the blue designs. And the baby's blanket will be done in the green designs. We are still awaiting the baby's arrival and are getting a little impatient, as the baby was due on the 25th of this month, but the bundle of joy still deserves a nice quilt too. :)
The fabric s from Riley Blake Designs. It is called Hooty Hoot Kangaroo by Dohickey Design. And I LOVE IT!
